Nonviolent Communication in the Therapeutic Setting: Consultation, Groups, Workshops, Classes and Trainings for Therapists and other Helping Professionals
Curious about how to integrate NVC into your therapeutic work?
Since 2006 I have been immersed in studying, practicing, and sharing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and one of my greatest joys is helping clinicians bring the tools and consciousness of NVC into each therapeutic encounter.
I am passionate about sharing NVC with therapists because I have witnessed and experienced what a powerful, radically non-pathologizing approach to healing and transformation it is. It is the most compassionate approach to understanding human feelings and behavior that I have come across, and I want as many people as possible to experience the empathy, self-compassion, and authenticity that this practice brings.
NVC was developed by a psychologist and peacemaker, Marshall Rosenberg, who studied closely with and was deeply influenced by Carl Rogers, the founder of the person-centered approach to therapy.
NVC is a practice of listening empathically and speaking authentically, a practice of tuning into our feelings and identifying the needs they are pointing to, and finding strategies that work for all. NVC offers simple yet profound tools for relating to ourselves and others with self-responsibility and genuine compassion.
I lead various workshops in my Berkeley office on
Nonviolent Communication in the Therapeutic Setting:
- Saturday Morning Series: A 4-Week Class on NVC for Therapists. Learn more here.
I provide trainings in the community on
Nonviolent Communication in the Therapeutic Setting. I also lead a general
Introduction to Nonviolent Communication workshop for other populations. If you work at a clinic, counseling center, agency, school, or other organization and are interested, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss an on-site training.
I lead a monthly consultation group for therapists who want to learn, practice, and integrate the skills and consciousness of Nonviolent Communication into their work with clients. We meet on the first Monday of the month from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. (except when that Monday is a holiday we meet on the second Monday). Click
here for more info.
I am available to consult with you privately about how to integrate NVC into your therapeutic work. In individual consultation sessions, we have the opportunity for in-depth exploration of how you might understand your clients and yourself through an NVC lens and find new ways to move your clinical work forward. In-person, phone, and Skype sessions available.
Empathy Group for Therapists
A bi-monthlyNVC-Based Empathy Group for Therapists. We meet on the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Click
